Olivier is also a recognized pedagogue and a passionate teacher. A piano teacher for over 20 years, he teaches and transmits his passion for piano and music to all his students. He has also been the violin teacher at the International School of Monaco (ISM) since 2024. He will be in concert on April 26 at the Reformed Church of Monaco as part of the first musical season of the Voûte concerts in Monaco.
Great-grandson of Serge Sandberg, who is the founder of the Studios de la Victorine, the Concerts Pasdeloup and administrator then director of the Cortot teacher training college, Olivier Sandberg began his musical training around the age of three on the violin with his father, himself trained at Cortot and by the great pianist Magda Tagliaferro.
Throughout his piano studies at the Ecole Normale Cortot, from which he graduated, Olivier Sandberg became very familiar with the music of Debussy, Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Ravel's concerto in G, while developing the complete sonatas of Brahms, Bach, Beethoven and Mozart on the violin.
Olivier favors deep work on sound, interpretation and stage performance. A true reflection of his love for the piano and violin, he invites us to travel from the impressionism of Debussy to the poetry of Rachmaninoff; from the sensitivity of Haydn to the brilliance of Chopin and Ravel's harmonies. On the violin, he will take you on a journey from Brahms to Prokofiev and from Bach to Mendelssohn.
Olivier Sandberg has performed his solo piano and violin concerts with orchestra in France, Italy, Germany, England and Brazil.
He began his concert career at Saint Paul Trois Châteaux as part of the young Violon & talents festival in 2002, then played at the Abbey Sutton Courtenay, at the Salle Colonne, the Cité Internationale des Arts, at the Théâtre le Ranelagh, at the Regard du Cygne, at the Studio Clio instituto de arte & humanismo, at the Théatro Grande di Brescia, in Munich, at the Academia Nazionale di Santa Cicilia, at the Opéra de Nice...
